Andrzej Miękina was born in 1954 in Poland. He received his M.Sc. degree (applied physics) in 1985 from Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), the Ph.D. degree (spectrophotometric application of digital signal processing) – in 1998 from Warsaw University of Technology. His research interests are concentrated on software aspects of measurement, in particular on applications of mathematical modelling and digital signal processing in measurement and instrumentation. He published ca. 50 papers in this domain. He has been lecturing on numerical methods, measuring systems and measurement data processing.

The professional experience of dr. Miękina includes, moreover, several research stays at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Canada) and at Measurement Microsystems, Inc. (Canada) – a spin-off company established in 1998 on the basis of intellectual property developed within the framework of the research collaboration of Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières with Warsaw University of Technology in 1989–1998. Dr. Miękina has co-authored ca. 50 research publications (including 10 papers in reviewed international journals) on measurement and instrumentation. He is, moreover, a co-author of 4 international patents (US, Canada, UE).
